Advanstar Communications
is a leading provider of information and communications products to targeted
businesses and professional markets. Hive4, a wholly owned subsidiary of Advanstar Communications, is building a
business-to-business marketplace to connect buyers and sellers in as many as 20
vertical industries from fashion to telecommunications.
Since November 1999, we have participated in numerous projects
with Advanstar Communications and Hive4.com.
Business Evaluations
In 1999, we conducted a business evaluation on behalf of
Advanstar in
its partnership with
PurchasePro by
evaluating PurchasePro's product, technology and management.
We also represented Advanstar in negotiations with PurchasePro and assisted in drafting the legal agreement between the two companies.
We are continuing to provide business evaluation assistance
to Advanstar's CEO and COO. These assignments involve evaluating companies and products in the specific
business-to-business markets served by Advanstar's publishing
business, including companies in the fashion, travel, formulary committees,
telecommunications and intellectual property licensing markets.
Strategic Consulting
In our involvement in the Advanstar - PurchasePro relationship, we also
provided project management and evaluation of key technology deliveries from PurchasePro,
and provided technology advice to the two partners. Our team also designed Advanstar's computer infrastructure for the partnership.
We played a similar role in Advanstar's partnership with Icon
Nicholson. We conducted the business evaluation, provided project management and participated in several groups that managed specific deliveries of technology from Icon Nicholson to
Advanstar.
One of these groups focused on Ontology. We collaborated with developers from Icon Nicholson and Requisite to develop Ontology categories and Ontology management tools for the Hive4
business-to-business marketplaces.
