Strategy

For FocusEngine, we are guiding product and business strategy as well as helping with product implementation and developing FocusEngine's high-availability server infrastructure.

Our product and business strategy contribution includes defining FocusEngine's business model, market position and product deployment strategy. We have also helped FocusEngine choose the initial target markets for its product and assisted them with introductions to potential customers and partners. In addition, we have worked in a technical pre-sale capacity to help secure the company's initial clients.

Software Development

We have also helped FocusEngine understand how to customize its front-ends for multiple customers with maximum efficiency, by developing FocusEngine's strategy for using XML and XSL to separate content from presentation. This allows the company to use its core technology with varying user interfaces for each of its individual customers. After developing the strategy, we implemented the first FocusEngine user interface utilizing this technology.

Our role with FocusEngine includes numerous project management activities both with internal projects and with customer relationships. In this effort, we have established numerous project and customer management web sites.

Operations

Recently, we managed a major upgrade to FocusEngine's high-availability server infrastructure at a top-tier co-location facility. The newly upgraded infrastructure includes load-balancing hardware and an array of front-end servers. Back-end functionality is also spread among several servers and the infrastructure uses an Oracle hot standby server to guarantee maximum availability when there is a hardware failure. We also acquired and configured a firewall for FocusEngine and designed Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) for linking FocusEngine's developers with the co-located server infrastructure.
