Medline Searching
We designed and implemented Medsite s complete interface for
searching Medline databases. Medline, published by the United States
National Library
of Medicine, is the world's most comprehensive source of
life science and biomedical bibliographic information, with nearly eleven
million records in its database.
Our interface includes basic and advanced searching forms. Users can
individually select which journals to search, or they may target bundles of journals
that cover medical specializations. Groups of targeted journals can be
saved and labeled for easy reuse.
Results are presented in a flexible list that can be customized.
Users can save searches and email search results to colleagues. The
interface also provides the ability to execute searches at regular intervals
and have the results emailed to a list of recipients.
The search interface was implemented using Allaire Cold Fusion. We built
a custom Cold Fusion tag in C++. This tag was used to interface the Knowledge
Finder Medline database.
