NearSpace, Inc. provides
mobile information services for the built environment by helping businesses
deliver information about a building directly via wireless handheld devices.
Strategic Consulting
In May, 2000 we began the first phase of our engagement with NearSpace by
providing business model and architecture advice
for optimizing NearSpace s web offering. We also helped our client identify potential customers and partners and provided strategies for optimizing customer and partner
adoption of the NearSpace system.
Customer Management Sites
After this first phase, we
rapidly transitioned into
implementation, focusing on helping NearSpace work with its customers
and on developing core product technology.
We developed
a series of project management web sites that allow NearSpace to communicate the
latest status of important projects directly to its customers. These sites
were implemented using Big Chief's own web management technology, which allowed our client
to build multiple new sites quickly and efficiently as new customers were signed
up. These sites run on a Windows 2000 server hosted at our facility, and
scripting was
implemented in Allaire Cold Fusion Server.
Product Technology Development
In addition to the project management sites, we worked
with NearSpace and its customers to manage the process of
developing and deploying NearSpace venues. We had our most
extensive involvement with Key3Media, helping them develop NearSpace venues for their Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
show and for Comdex Las Vegas.
We also helped NearSpace develop core technologies that
are part of its product offerings by developing the server used to manage the process of developing, testing and
publishing NearSpace venues. This server was developed using
Allaire Cold Fusion Server and also contained customized interfaces
to Java-based components developed by NearSpace.
We also developed the portions of NearSpace s browser-based
client application for personal computers. This application
uses HTML and Cold Fusion-based scripting to drive a Java applet
that displays NearSpace venues in a Web browser.
