Randall Publishing Company controls the Construction Media Group and the Trucking Media Group, publishes Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities, and manufacturers and markets a complete line of recognition and motivational programs, promotional items and award materials.

Business Evaluation

In 2000, Randall Publishing hired our team to provide business evaluation consulting as it pursued acquisition of two vertical market web site ventures.

The first acquisition was a web site aimed at the trucking industry. In this business evaluation assignment, our primary focus was to evaluate proprietary tools and infrastructure. We measured the tools against widely adopted commercial products and weighed their usefulness across Randall's multiple areas of focus in its publishing business.

The second acquisition was a business-to-business exchange web site aimed at the oilfield services industry. Here, our focus was on the cost-effectiveness of operating the web site. We estimated the cost to operate the site against the revenue potential to determine if the acquisition could yield a profit for Randall Publishing.

In both assignments, our previous experience with the markets and technology relevant to the acquisitions was augmented with the new research that we undertook. We provided verbal advice to Randall Publishing management and advised members on conducting due diligence interviews with management at the target companies. In each case we followed up with a written report and phone conferences to discuss our conclusions.
